This page says exactly what WoseApp stores, why, who can see it, and how to take it with you or delete it. If something here is unclear, that is a fault worth reporting.
What we store
- Your account — username, display name, email address, a hashed password, your bio and picture if you add one, and when you joined.
- What you post — post text, images, tags, and which posts you have approved.
- Who you follow and block.
- Your private conversations — the messages themselves, stored so you can read them again.
- Technical records — your IP address in server logs and in rate-limit counters, so the site can resist automated abuse.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising trackers.
- No third-party analytics. Nobody outside this server is told what you read.
- Your email address is never shown on your profile and never given to anyone else.
- We do not sell anything to anybody. There is no data business here.
Who can read your private conversations
The two people in them. Moderators cannot open a conversation — there is no route in the software that lets them, and that is enforced in code, not by policy.
There is one exception, and you control it: if you report a conversation, you may choose to attach a copy of the messages to that report. A moderator then reads what you handed over, and nothing else. If you do not tick that box, they see only your description.
Being honest about the limit: messages are private by access control, not end-to-end encrypted. Whoever runs this server could technically read the database. We have built the moderation tools so that nobody can do it from inside the app, but we will not claim a mathematical guarantee we have not implemented.
We email you to confirm your address, to reset your password, to tell you a conversation has started, and if a moderator acts on your account. Notification emails never contain the contents of a message — only that one arrived — because email is not private in the way this site tries to be. You can switch the optional ones off in Settings.
How long we keep things
- Your content — until you delete it or your account.
- Backups — 14 days, then overwritten.
- Rate-limit records — 24 hours.
- Delivered email records — 30 days.
- Server logs — rotated weekly, four weeks retained.
Your rights
- See it — download everything we hold about you as a JSON file, private conversations included.
- Correct it — edit your profile at any time; posts for 15 minutes after writing them.
- Delete it — deleting your account removes your posts, profile, follows and approvals. Messages you already sent stay in the other person's inbox, attributed to a deleted account, because they are that person's copy of a conversation too.
- Object — write to hello@woseapp.com.
Cookies
One cookie, holding your session so you stay signed in. No tracking cookies, no third-party cookies, and therefore no cookie banner to click through.
Children
WoseApp is not intended for under-13s, and accounts we believe belong to children will be removed.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we will say so on the site. We will not quietly widen what we collect.
